Capitulation & Appeasment, Oh My!

May 1, 2009

Well, it was only a matter of time until the neocons hawkish liberal interventionists reared their heads, jumped up on their soapboxes, and started irresponsibly wingin’ around politically-loaded terms like “capitulation” and “appeasement” in describing, or “reporting” on, the Obama adminstration’s direct diplomacy with the government of Sudan.

Oh what a tangled web we weave. It was only a few short long years ago that the dreaded neoconservatives were hurling these same baseless insults at those of us that stood up against irresponsibly invading Iraq and waging a disastrous “global war on terror.” Much more on this disturbing trend soon.

For now, I give you…

Capitulation: “Is President Obama’s Sudan Policy Becoming One of Capitulation?” by Eric Reeves

Appeasement: “Appeasement of Sudan?” by Nicholas Kristof

Anyone else getting the distinct sense that nothing short of military intervention and/or regime change will satisfy the professional advocates and grassroots activists seeking “peace” in Sudan?
